"For the benefit of the 'Beqaot' settlement, the occupation army issues an order to seize 5.2 dunams of land from the town of Tammun in Tubas Governorate"

  • Violation: Notice of confiscation of 5.217 dunams for military purposes.
  • Location: Northern Jordan Valley east of Tammun town / Tubas Governorate.
  • Date of violation: Wednesday 12/2/2025.
  • Perpetrator: Israeli occupation army.
  • Affected party: Residents of Tammun town.

Description:

The so-called commander of the Israeli occupation army in the West Bank, called "Aluf Blot," in February 2025, issued a military order to seize a piece of land from citizens' lands in the town of Tammun in Tubas Governorate.

The military order came under the title "Order regarding land seizure No. 25/34/T," which includes seizing and taking possession of 5,200 meters of the town's lands. The seized lands are located in the following natural basins and locations:

  • Tammun Basin: Within the plots of Jalmat Samma, Jalmat Assaf, Ras Al-Madhbaha.

The order stated that the occupation army will dispose of these lands for military purposes. According to the map attached to the military order, the Israeli occupation is planning to establish a section of a military road connecting the "Beqaot" settlement with the colonial bypass road No. "578." This road - according to the attached notice - serves military purposes as described by the occupation.

Mr. Motaz Bsharat, the official in charge of the Jordan Valley file in Tubas Governorate, stated:

"What the occupation has done, its main goal is to strengthen settlement activity in the Jordan Valley. While it appears to be a military road, in reality it is implementing infrastructure for the settlements with the aim of later expanding the 'Beqaot' settlement and encroaching on agricultural lands amid the intensifying conflict over land and the displacement of a large number of Bedouin families from the Jordan Valley."

It's worth noting that the nature of the land that the occupation plans to seize is private property with a fertile plain-like nature. Until recently, it was used for grazing purposes, especially for nearby Bedouin communities. However, since the declaration of a state of emergency after the war on Gaza, the occupation has imposed a military cordon around the settlement, making it very difficult to utilize these lands, until this notice came to confiscate part of those lands with the aim of constructing a so-called military road that will later pave the way for the expansion of the "Beqaot" settlement toward the connecting bypass road.

The Israeli occupation state turns its back on all international humanitarian laws and covenants, and practices racist procedures against Palestinians, stripping them of their property whether buildings or land. This occupation policy is considered a great sin committed by the occupation and violates all international norms and laws, which stipulated the following:

  •  The Fourth Geneva Convention   of 1949, Article 174: "Extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully, illegally and wantonly is prohibited."
  •  The Road Map Agreement signed between Israelis and Palestinians (under the auspices of the United States of America, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations) on the thirtieth of April 2003, which called on the government of Israel to freeze all construction work in the settlements: "The Government of Israel must act immediately to dismantle all settlement outposts established since March 2001, in accordance with the Mitchell Report, and also the Israeli government must freeze all settlement building activities including natural growth."
  •   Security Council Resolution 446 of 1979 "called upon Israel to rescind its previous measures and to desist from taking any action which would result in changing the legal status and geographical nature or materially affect the demographic composition of the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem, and, in particular, not to transfer parts of its own civilian population."
  •   Also, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted and proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 217 A (III) issued on December 10, 1948, which stated that "No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property," which means that Israel is not permitted to destroy or confiscate Palestinian property under any pretext."
